Definition of Last Minute Travel

What is Last Minute Travel?

In the ‘olden days’ of air travel, our parents used to talk about showing up at an airport, purchasing a ticket for (sometimes) amazing cheap prices, and taking off for the weekend.

Although that’s very difficult to do today (and, more than likely will cost you considerably more than a ticket purchased a few weeks in advance) there is this thing called ‘last minute travel’.

Last minute travel specials are usually flights or vacations booked anywhere from two weeks to three days in advance – although this is variable, depending on the airline, the booking company and your destination.

When airlines – or hotels – realize that they might not fill all of their available seats or hotel rooms, they knock off prices in hopes of enticing travelers.

This is where you come in – you see an awesome deal to a place you want to go, you realize you have some free time and viola! You have an instant vacation…just add water.

Many websites have last minute travel sections – check out the ones on Travelocity for examples. Other sites are dedicated to last minute travel, just as LastMinuteTravel.com. Do a search and figure out where you want to go next weekend.
