Cruise from Valparaiso, Chile to Miami, Florida

By Bob | March 9th, 2007

valpo.jpgFor as long as I have been in the business of finding cheap cruise deals — seemingly an eternity — this one might be the one that offers the most value for the dollar. It is a 13-day cruise aboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norweigan Crown. The voyage goes from Valparaiso, Chile to Miami, Florida via the Panama Canal. The cost for an inside cabin? A mere $600. That is how much you might pay for a quick cruise through the Panama Canal, not one of this length and quality. That is how much you might pay for a flight from Miami to Chile, not for 13 days of eating and entertainment.

After departing from Valparaiso, the cruise makes three ports of call in Chile Coquimbo, Iquique, and Arica. From there it goes north to Peru for stops in Callao and Salaverry. That is the last time you’ll step foot on land until you reach Miami. Granted, the last week of the cruise might not be exciting other than the time spent in the Panama Canal but for that price you will get your money’s worth just by relaxing on the deck in the sun and by visiting the dinning room three times a day.
