Cruise Ships have Godmothers

I’m still relatively new to the world of cruises and I continue to learn new things about the industry every day. Today I discovered that cruise ships are often given “Godmothers”. For example, the Godmother of Carnival Cruise’s MS Sovereign of the Seas is former first lady Rosalyn Carter. The new Norwegian Pearl has tapped entertainer Rosie O’Donnell to be its Godmother and if you take a voyage on the new Carnival Freedom you can take comfort knowing that Kathy Ireland is the ship’s Godmother.

I’m not sure what any of this means to you when you climb aboard a ship, but it is an interesting bit of trivia to inquire about before you book your next cruise.
