Puerto Rico – Vacation Packages

By Miss Julie | December 24th, 2006

Translated into English, Puerto Rico means “Rich Port,” but more than that, it is an island rich with something for everyone. An autonomous part of the United States, Puerto Rico is two separate worlds colliding. Both a mixture of old world Spanish and, for the last hundred years, new world American, Puerto Rico is perhaps unique blend of how two separate societies can blend and become one. It’s one of the most densely packed islands in the world and an easy island getaway for Caribbean seekers.

Start with a stroll through Old San Juan, a restored colonial area of the capital that is now a shopping, dining and entertainment center. There are also many historical sites there, including two fortresses and the 16th century Plaza des Armas. Beyond the city, don’t miss the misty El Yunque Rainforest, where trails meander under a lush canopy of greenery; the fascinating Rio Camuy Cave Park, an area of forested cones, caverns and underground rivers; and La Ruta Panoramica, a scenic road through the rugged mountain interior: And of course, Puerto Rico offers many gold sand beaches, exciting water sports and championship golf.
