Pacific Coast, Costa Rica – Vacation Packages

By Miss Julie | December 24th, 2006

The “Little Switzerland of Central America” has a strong democracy and the highest standard of living on the continent. Thankfully its conservation program is also one of the most aggressive, for although Costa Rica is a small country, its bio-diversity is staggering. While laying claim oto only .03% of the world’s land mass, the small Central American country contains 6% of the globe’s bio-diversity. In cloud forests resplendent with ferns, palms and dazzling orchids, hummingbirds and butterflies flit from blossom to blossom, and there are more species of birds than in all of North America.

Guanacaste is a popular tourist area due its amazing landscapes, inactive volcanoes (such as Rincón de la Vieja, Tenorio, Miravalles) and several protected zones, national parks and wildlife refuges. The province of Puntarena’s primary areas of attraction include Jaco Beach, the closest beach to San Jose, Quepos/Manuel Antonio, known for its water sports and the Gulf of Nicoya and the Southern Pacific, both famous for their wealth of nature attractions.

Why go to Pacific Coast, Costa Rica?

  • Check out the very active, very stereotypical Volcán Arenal. Just don’t climb it
  • Swim or relax on Pacific beaches
  • Grab your board for some of Central America’s best surfing
  • Photograph the scarlet macaws in Parque Nacional Corcovado
