Lose it all in the Virgin Islands

By Bob | March 5th, 2007

40-year-old.jpgWe have Christopher Columbus to thank for the name Virgin Islands. The great explorer gave the Caribbean Islands their name on his second voyage to the New World in 1493, naming them for Saint Ursula and her virgin followers. It is a good thing she had those virgin followers. Calling a country the Slut Islands probably wouldn’t go over too well these days. Virginity is all the rage so the Virgin Islands are nicely positioned in the name department.

The Virgin Islands also happen to be nicely positioned if you are looking for a holiday in paradise. Located a mere 50 miles from Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands feature perfect sand beaches, stunningly blue waters, ideal weather and a laid back hospitality. You really can’t go wrong with the visit to the Virgin Islands, be they U.S. or British. One thing to be wary of, however, is that traffic drives on the left side of the road in the U.S. Virgin Islands, while almost all vehicles are left hand drive (as they are imported from the United States).

For a limited time Priceline has some killer, and I mean KILLER, deals on flights to the U.S. Virgin Islands for both the pure and the pure of heart.
