Forget Mardi Gras. The best party in New Orleans is Jazz Fest. It offers all the thrills and wonders of the other big party without the debauchery and annoyingness. Plus it features the best jazz music in the world. What could be better than that?

Just looking at this year’s scheduled artists makes my mouth water. There are not only the finest jazz musicians in the world, but also some great rock, blues and country performers. All of this takes place with the city of New Orleans as the backdrop. Even after the terrible disaster that fell upon the city during Hurricane Katrina this is still one city that knows how to have a good time and it is one city that is intent on showing visitors that it is still the home of jazz.

Jazz Fest is one of the most popular events in New Orleans so you are well advised to take care of your travel arrangements early. Hotel rooms fill up fast even with the steep prices they charge.
