Great deals on shoulder season travel
Labor Day has come and gone, kids across the country have returned to school and changing leaves have signaled that summer is officially over and fall has arrived. While you may still be scrambling to book a last-minute vacation before the weather turns totally sour, fall is actually a great time to take advantage of a host of shoulder season deals.
If you couldn’t get away this summer because of tightened budgets and higher travel costs, fall actually could be an ideal time for a shorter family vacation. Sure, you may have to pull the kids out of school for a couple of extra days, but after you score one of the amazing fall travel deals, you’ll hardly be sorry you did. Lucky for those keeping a tight watch on family budgets this year, travel is actually a whole lot cheaper this year than in the past. While summer travel was cheaper than usual this year, Fall is an even better time to take advantage of some of the great deals. Travel analyst Christopher Elliott recently wrote about why 2010 is the year for the travel deal, but the last few months of 2009 seem to have a pretty optimistic travel forecast.
In fact, right now is a great time to find discount hotels and cheap airline tickets to just about anywhere. Not so bad. I mean, if you are going to have to work an extra 5 years to re-fill that 401k, at least you can go on a cheap vacation, right?
If you are looking for both affordable and family orientated vacation packages, there are a ton of great ways to save money and make sure you and your family have a great time. Right now there are some especially great deals on Disneyland vacation packages, for those who want to spend their time away from home at the “happiest place on Earth.” I recently saw Disney hotels advertised for as little as $59 per night. With some great deals on airfare to Los Angeles, you could be shocked at how little your trip to Disney costs this time of year.
