Sail the Mediterranean from Venice

By Bob | January 26th, 2007

venice-060.jpgVenice is dripping with romance. Even with the summer crowds and high prices, your heart won’t be able to avoid going pitter and patter while you are exploring one of the finest cities in Italy.

If the romance of Venice isn’t enough to rekindle old flames or ignite new ones, how about combing a trip there with a cruise of the Mediterranean? Royal Caribbean International offers up an excellent seven-day voyage aboard the Splendour of the Seas. Starting and ending in Venice, the ship takes you to some of the coolest and most romantic spots in Europe.

You’ll spend an entire day in the awesome historic walled Croatian city, Dubrovnik. From there you head to Kusadasi, Turkey where you can explore the ancient ruins of the Izmir region. After a day at sea, it is off to Tira, Greece for some long walks on the beach and an exploration of the city’s cliff side streets. The final destination is Corfu, a bustling town steeped in tradition and history.

This is a great cruise for history buffs, couples and those who are looking to see a lot of Europe in a short amount of time. Combine it with a few days in Venice and you’ll have the vacation of a lifetime.
