Conquer the Caribbean aboard the Conquest

By Bob | March 5th, 2007

conquest.jpgWith a name like Conquest you can probably guess that this Carnival Cruise ship is slightly bigger and more intimidating than a puttering tugboat. The Conquest does indeed live up to its name. Weighing in at a cool 110,000 tons, the ship is one of the many Carnival mega cruise ships that are churning in seas throughout the world. Like its brethren, the Conquest offers affordable fun and can accommodate roughly the population of a small city 2,974 passengers and more than 1,500 crew members. Sixty percent of her staterooms featuring ocean views and 60% of those have balconies so even with the low rates you can get a room with a view.

This spring the Conquest is haunting the waters in the Caribbean through a nice little 7-day voyage that begins and ends in Galveston, Texas. Along the way the ship stops in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Gran Cayman, Cayman Islands, and Cozumel, Mexico. You don’t get to spend much time in any one place so consider this cruise to be like a sampler box of chocolate. You’ll enjoy the taste, get to sample a few different popular flavors and likely will be eager to conquer some more ports of call after it is done.
