Children are an expensive proposition. Between feeding them, putting clothes on their backs and bribing them to behave in public places it costs more than a pretty penny to raise kids. It is amazing that any of us have any money left over to go on family vacations.

Not all family vacations are created equally, of course. You can put the young ones in the backseat and travel to a campground where you can live off of franks and beans and hardly spend a cent. Ahhh, my childhood memories. Or you could do something a little more special like travel to a resort on the beach and let your kids have the time of their lives while you relax by the pool with a frosty beverage in hand.

Orbitz has a family vacation package program that will surely please a frugal parent. The packages are good for places like San Diego, Cancun, and Oahu. You can save up to $150 on your next family vacation if you travel by August 31, 2007. That should leave you plenty of money to bribe your kid in the future and to enjoy another beans and franks vacation at the beach.
