Ixtapa/Zihuatenejo, Mexico – Vacation Packages

By Miss Julie | December 24th, 2006

In the Nahuatl “Cihuatlán”, Zihuatenejo means “the place of women” because it was a matriarchal society. This small bay and resort was discovered by the tourist trail in 1940. At the time, the only access to the village was by the sea. Your visit to this small town will provide you with some of the most breathtaking sights of the Ixtapa Hotel complex where you can sightsee, shop or just relax. Watch as local fisherman pull in the day’s catch while you sip a coconut drink and walk along the soft sandy beaches. Head into town and learn more about the local history at small, old, one-room museums.

Head towards Ixtapa, where you will see the computer-planned resort and residential area, as well as the beautiful beaches along the Pacific coast. Dance all night along the waterfront after spending your day trying your…arms…at hangliding, or your hand at deep sea fishing. A photo stop at Playa Quieta (Calm Beach), where you will be able to view the magnificent island of Ixtapa, is a must.
