Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Vacation Packages

By Miss Julie | December 24th, 2006

Greater Fort Lauderdale is a place of contrasts, where modest beach hotels vie with elegant seaside resorts.

What to do with your carefree days in this sun-drenched paradise? You might watch open-mouthed as a Seminole Indian wrestles an alligator into submission at the in-city Seminole Reservation. Or immerse yourself in the enormous Swimming Hall of Fame Olympic swimming complex frequented by local young Olympians-to-be. Or charter a deep-sea fishing boat. Or maybe just hop a water taxi and see where you end up.

If you’re lucky enough to visit during the winter holidays, check and see if the granddaddy of boat parades is taking place at the Winterfest Parade. Gawk at the elegantly light-draped yachts and then head into town for a party. If you do go, don’t waste your time looking for an actually fort – there isn’t one.
